One Different Decision

Standard

We knew we were going to go out for dinner; it was Thursday night. So, my husband and I threw around two possible places, one was a special “steak night” during the first Thursday of the month or an old favorite we have been frequenting for more than 30 years. Steak night sounded good but so did the restaurant where our friend Sol would be covering some Neil Diamond classics and where we haven’t been for a while. We opted for the live music and enjoyed our dinner and drinks, when we stumbled upon our old neighbors and friends, George and Diane in the booth behind us. It was nice running into them.

Then we headed out for gas in our car, and since it was such a nice balmy night we talked about walking on the boardwalk at Rehoboth Beach or heading over to Lewes Beach for “Booze and Boos” at a ship that we support through annual donations. We opted for the Overfalls Ship destination, and when we exited our car noticed another former neighbor and friend Mary. She was sitting in the park there. We had a nice chat, and it was a pleasant, unexpected surprise running into her.

Both chance meetings would not have occurred if we made just one different decision! These were small decisions that had different outcomes, other than what we originally anticipated during out night out. You could call it serendipity.

“You are only one defining decision away from a totally different life.” Mark Batterson

It made me and my husband think about how just one decision can change your life. Big decisions like where you live, where you work and who you surround yourself with, all can and do change your life. Some decisions create a small change, and bigger decisions can and do create bigger changes.

If we stayed in or went to different places, we would not have run into our friends. The night was fun and we had a good time, but what made it even more memorable were the unexpected meet ups that we just happened on.

So … here it to “decisions” that ultimately lead us to exactly where we need to be regardless of, if they are big decisions or smaller ones! All our decisions matter and all of them count …
