I am not going to lie but I had to google it. My preferred company is my husband. I never tire of spending time with him. We literally retired together so we could be together. When working he was gone ten hours a day. It was hard. He was in a high demand job and making good money. With the two of us working, it was easy to purchase and maintain two homes. One house at the beach and the other where we held our career jobs.
So what did google say when I asked “why is it I’d rather be with my husband than other people?” The response “preferring your husband’s company over anyone else’s is a sign of a deep, secure, and genuinely fulfilling emotional connection.” and then the bullet points 1) your nervous system feels safe 2) true companionship and friendship 3) low effort, high reward. Ok then!
We have so much fun together! We are perfect partners, even when at the grocery store, I will push the cart and stop and look and then he is pushing the cart. Its seamless working together even with the smallest of tasks. We flow.
The truth is we were always “together” we think alike, feel the same about major issues. Yes, we have had our share of conflicts. Sometimes I questioned “us” but he never did. He was always so steady and often teased me with “I’m out loving you again!” Thank God I could finally fully appreciate him for all the many gifts he has, he is just a great guy, and I am a lucky girl.
Together we had work challenges and raising children stresses and wins and loses but we always came out the other side together and stronger. Not always easy as we both have director/supervisor/leadership personalities that allowed for much success in our careers but not necessarily best for a husband-and-wife marriage and partnership.
He is the only man besides my dad that I feel truly loved me for me just being myself. I can’t believe that after 35 years of being together I never tire of him. We have great conversations and many believe he doesn’t talk much, from day 1, I couldn’t get him to stop talking to me! More to this story is that we both suffer from anxiety. We both learned to manage it, but we also are very discerning with who and where we spend our time.

God knew what he was doing when he blessed us with each other and my greatest hope is that everyone else gets to experience this kind of lasting and loving relationship. It is the greatest gift on earth to find your person and walk hand and hand through life with them.
